Abstract

This in vitro study was carried out to investigate the effect of presence of fluoride in self-etch adhesive system on microtensile bond strength of resin composite to different dentin depth level (0.5 mm and 1.5 mm below DEJ) at two time intervals (after 24 hours and 3 months).
Under the limits of the present study it could be concluded that:
1. Sodium fluoride present in adhesive system did not hinder bonding of resin composite to dentin.
2. Sodium fluoride is a promising antibacterial agent that didn’t antagonize penetration of resin tags into dentinal tubules and formation of hybrid layer in both superficial and deep dentin.
3. Mechanical aging affects the bonding quality of resin composite to dentin.
4. Chewing simulator is a valuable research tool for simulation and help in evaluation of effect of load in oral cavity on longevity and success of any tested material.
