Abstract The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness a Multisensory _Based program on developing EFL reading skills among primary school pupils. The researcher designed a program consists of (16) sessions to develop EFL reading skills among primary school pupils. Multiple data collection and data analysis methods were used with a group of 40 fifth year primary school pupils. They were taught the program based on the Multisensory Based Program on 14 sessions; twice a week; 90 minutes each. Comparison of pre-and post-tests on the reading skills revealed improvement on these variables .The SPSS statistic program was used for analyzing the data. The independent samples t-test was used to compare the pupils’ performance on EFL reading skills. Results showed that 1. There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and those of the post test of the research group on the overall reading skills in favor of the post test. 2. There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and those of the post test of the research group on the phonemic awareness skills (Rhyme, Onset and rime, Blending, Segmenting) in favor of the post test. 3. There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and those of the post test of the research group on the reading accuracy skills (Sight word efficiency, Decoding efficiency) in favor of the post test. 4. There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and those of the post test of the research group on the reading comprehension skills in favor of the post test. 5. There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and those of the post test of the research group on the spelling skills in favor of the post test. 5.2 Conclusion The current research investigated the effectiveness of the Multisensory_ Based program in developing EFL reading skills. The researcher designed EFL reading skills test .The test was administered before the experimentation for the experimental group and revealed weakness in pupils’ reading skills. The researcher prepared the Multisensory-Based program to develop EFL reading skills. The program was taught for the experimental group. The EFL reading skills test was administered after the experimentation. The results revealed a noticed development in the experimental groups’ reading skills. It was concluded that the Multisensory_ Based program was effective in developing The EFL reading skills of the fifth year primary school pupils 5.3 Recommendations Based on the results of the present research, the following recommendations are suggested: 1. More teachers should be encouraged to use the Multisensory regularly. 2. Teachers should be provided with specific training programs to use the Multisensory interactive features. 3. Students should be provided with specific training programs to prepare them to use the Multisensory programs. 4. The time that teachers spend learning how to use the Multisensory activities should be recognized. 5. There should be technical support strategies for teachers who regularly use the Multisensory programs and activities so that they feel genuinely supported. 6. Teachers’ awareness of students’ motivation to apply various strategies should be raised to stimulate their taste for learning. 7. All future teachers should be trained in pedagogical and interactive uses of the Multisensory programs. 8. Assessment of the uses, benefits, and challenges of the Multisensory learning in class should be continued. 9. Further action research and case studies on educational integration of the Multisensory should be conducted. 10. Multisensory should be one of the important alternatives while implementing new education programs. Additional lesson materials are required. 4.5 Suggestions for further research The research offers the following suggestions for further research: 1- The impact of using more Multisensory programs for various grade levels. 2- Additional research is needed to use more Multisensory to do different activities that pupils use in learning EFL. 3- The effect of using Multisensory programs on developing pupils’ motivation towards learning EFL, and teachers’ attitudes towards using Multisensory activities. 4- The effect of using Multisensory on developing other EFL skills (e.g. speaking and writing( 5- Further research regarding the applications and benefits of the Multisensory use with special needs students in terms of accommodations and learning modalities that could be introduced using the Multisensory. 6- Teacher issues involving the types of training, support, and professional development also merit further research. 7- There should be more investigation involving Multisensory and other aspects as student behavior; teacher attitudes, the effectiveness of the various types of lessons created, Multisensory proficiency, or the teaching methodologies utilized. |
