Abstract

The burden of CKD in the surviving patient population has significant medical and economic implication.
Several alternative approaches have been proposed to have beneficial effects on treatment of CKD, including symptomatic treatment, renal dialysis or even organ transplantation.
The aim of this work is to compare the effect of ADMSCs and BMSCs transplantation on renal structure and function in ADR chronic nephropathy rat model.
Forty male white albino rats of local strain with an average weight of (200gm) were selected and included in this study , Rats were divided into four groups each one contains (10) rats: Normal group: received ,5ml saline intravenous injection in the tail; chronic nephropathy group received a single intravenous injection (tail vein) of ADR at a dose of 5 mg/kg of body weight; ADSC group rats received ADR by the same route and the same dose as group 2, then received ADSCs (1×106 cells suspended in 1 ml saline) one week after the ADR injection and (4) BMSC group, rats received ADR by the same route and the same dose as group 2, and then BMSC was injected one week after the ADR injection in a dose of ( 1×106 cells suspended in 1 ml saline).
Through out the duration of the study follow up measures were done including body weight, hemoglobin, serum Albumin, creatinine, urea and proteinuria, by the end of the study oxidative stress in renal tissue, histopathology and mitochondrial DNA analysis were assessed . Homing was assessed by labeling stem cells with iron and tracking them by Prussian blue stain.
