Abstract Heaters are a major component in all petroleum refining applications. They heat up petroleum materials until their components are separated by physical means through towers for various products such as kerosene, diesel and all types of oils used in many industrial applications. Due to the importance of Heaters in all applications of refining, this study is based on the possibility of using the existing Heaters in the event of change of material to be heated, which is (NMP) instead of phenol used as a solvent in one of the refining processes for oils because of environmental considerations as there are environmental recommendations not to use phenol in Industry The study resulted in the possibility of reaching the new operating requirements using NMP as an alternative solvent for phenol with some modifications in the Heater coil and also taking into account replacing and renewing the completely thermal insulation due to its decay and bad condition. |
