Abstract Family caregivers of cancer patients are at a high chance of psychological, physical and enthusiastic issues, which may unfavorably affect their quality of life. Diagnosis of cancer has an important impact not solely on patient, but also on their family caregivers. Palliative Care is outlined to assist an individual to encounter the finest conceivable quality of life as his/her cancer progresses. This Study aimed to assess quality of life offamily caregivers of cancer patients receiving palliative care. Subjects and Method: Design: A descriptive design was utilized. Sample:A convenient sample of 208 of family caregivers attending with their patients. Setting: This study was conducted at outpatient oncology clinics affiliated by oncology center in three hospitals in Port- Said City. Tools of data collection: Data were collected by two tools, Tool I: A family caregiver interviewing questionnaire. Tool II: Quality of Life questionnaire for family caregivers. Results: Revealed thatthe actual mean total quality of life scores among family caregivers was low43.65 ± 9.36. Conclusion: Total quality of life among family caregivers of cancer patients was low. Also, there was a statistically significant association between knowledge of family caregivers about palliative care and total quality of life among family caregivers. Recommendations: that, further studieshave used specific tools to measure the quality of life of family caregivers of port-said Egyptian patients with cancer and futurestudies are needed with large sample to confirm the findings of the study. |
