Tools: Structured self-administrated questionnaire , Observational checklist. Result: Nearly half of the studied nurses (52.0%) had good knowledge in general infection and more than half of them(56.0%) had good knowledge related to insertion of IUD( before –during –after).Nearly two thirds of them (60.0%) had unsatisfactory practice regarding total practice. There was statistically significant difference between ages, level of education, experience years, attend training of the studied nurses and their total knowledge (p> 0.05). There was positive correlation between studied nurse’s total practices and total knowledge. Conclusion: The results of the present study supported the study questions. Nearly half of the studied nurses had good knowledge regarding general infection and more than half of them had good knowledge regarding insertion of IUD(before-during-after).While two thirds of them had unsatisfactory practice regarding total practice. Recommendation: Covering the gap between knowledge and practices to attain prompt performances through continuous education and supervision in the field of infection control during the insertion and removal of the IUD.
