Abstract

Loneliness is a problem for a large portion of elderly people. Aim: explore the feeling of loneliness among the elderly residents and non- residents at the geriatric homes in Port Said City. Research design: A comparative descriptive design. Sample size: 92 elders from the geriatric homes and 144 elderly people from the Elderly Health Center in Al-Manakh. Methods: a structured interview sheet. Results: 57.6% of the elderly people living at their homes had low loneliness. Conclusion: The study revealed that residents in the geriatric homes had high loneliness.
