Abstract Obesity is one of the most common disorders worldwide. The incidence of obesity especially in Egyptian population is presently escalating as a major nutrition and health problem. Several genome wide associations studies (GWAS) explored various genetic polymorphisms associated with obesity risk among different populations, especially fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) and leptin receptor (LEPR) gene polymorphisms. The aim of the present study was to assess the association of genetic variants of fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) and leptin receptor (LEPR) gene polymorphisms with the susceptibility of obesity. This study included 110 unrelated obese patients who were compared to 122 healthy unrelated individuals taken from the same locality of Egypt. |
