Abstract Mitral valve replacement (MVR) is one of the most common surgical procedures in cardiac surgery; several techniques were described for (MVR). In this study we were aiming to assess the difference between two different surgical techniques (posterior leaflet preservation and both leaflet preservation) and here we meant the preservation of the sub-mitral apparatus which depends on chordea tendinea regarding echocardiographic changes after mitral valve replacement among patients with mitral valve diseases. The study was carried out on 50 patients undergoing MVR for mitral valve disease at Suez Canal University hospital. The patients were divided into two groups. One group with complete preservation of the native valve including the subvalvular apparatus and other group with preservation of only the posterior mitral leaflet with attached chordopapillary apparatus. |
