Abstract

Calcific vasculopathy is one of the major contributors to atherosclerosis, and causes vascular hardening, aging, and finally, adverse cardiovascular events Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) catalyzes the hydrolysis of organic pyrophosphate, a potent inhibitor of vascular calcification, and thus, promotes calcification This study was done aiming at assessment of the correlation between serum Alkaline Phosphatase level and severity of Coronary Artery disease in patients with chronic stable angina. The study is a cross sectional study that included 100 patients who presented to cardiovascular department in specialized medical hospital, Mansoura university for elective coronary angiography.
The obtained results showed that, There was significant correlation between severe CAD group and EF, RWMA and history of ACS. Besides, there was significant co relation between serum alkaline phosphatase and severity of CAD estimated by Gensini score.
