Abstract

Chronic periodontitis is the most frequently occurring form of periodontitis leading to
tooth loss. Dental implants have become widely recognized to replace lost tooth. Immediate placement
with bone regeneration is widely employed to overcome insufficient bone quantity and anatomical
problems during the procedure.
Aim of the study: Evaluation of the regenerative effect created around immediately placed
dental implants in periodontally affected sites by using nano-hydroxyapatite bone graft either with biocollagen membrane or Platelet Rich Fibrin “PRF”.
Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 16 extraction sockets in patients
suffering from chronic periodontitis with teeth indicated for extraction, selected with age range from
20 to 50 years They were divided into two groups:
group Ι: Included 8 extracted sockets treated with immediately placed implant with nano hydroxyapatite bone graft with bio-collagen membrane.
group П: Included 8 extracted sockets with immediately placed implant with nano-hydroxyapatite
bone graft with PRF membrane.
Results: There were no significant difference when comparing the clinical parameters
(PD,CAL,PI,GI) between the two groups or in the same group in different time intervals at baseline
and at 6, 9 and 12 months. As well, there was no significant difference when comparing the bone
height and bone density between the 2 groups at baseline and different time intervals.
Conclusion: The guided bone regeneration procedure with different types of membrane had showed a
high regenerative effect around the immediately placed implants in periodontally affected sites.
