Abstract

The Aims of the Study:
1. Identifying the reasons for the conversion of the Ancient Egyptian Monuments into christian Structures.
2. Identifying the reasons of the choice of these places, which converted into christian structures?
3. Identifying the architectural, mural and textual modifications which occurred in these places (tombs or temples).
4. Identifying the date of the conversion of the Ancient Egyptian tombs or temples which converted into christian structures in Minia governorate.
5. Classify the Coptic Alphabetic which inscribed in the walls of the tombs or temples.
6. Identifying the total number of the converted Ancient Egyptian monuments tombs or temples.
The Results of the Study:
1. Each group of the converted tombs had church and school tomb while the rest of the converted tombs used as residential places for the early christians.
2. The conversion of the tombs occurred in the fourth century AD, while the conversion of the temples occurred in the fifth century AD.
3. The total number of the converted tombs was 23, while the numbers of the converted temples were 5.
4. The Modifications in the Ancient Egyptian monuments included Architectural, Mural and Textual Modifications; the tombs had three modifications while the temples had the Architectural Modification more than Mural and Textual.
5. With the translation of the Coptic Alphabetic in the tombs especially in Beni Hassan, we know the names of the Popes and Saints during this period.
6. The prominent reason for the conversion of these places were the Imperial Decrees which issued by the Roman Emperors.
