Abstract

Black stain is composed of different micro- organisms embedded in intermicrobial matrix characterized by its simple bacteriological composition of Gram positive rods and its tendency to calcify. It originated from chromogenic bacteria such as actinomyces, which are part of normal oral flora. The children with black stain are associated with fewer dental caries The aim of the present study was to assess probiotic actinomyces bacteria on dental caries formation and progression on rats. The present study was carried out on forty male Albino rats at 21 days of age were selected and divided into two groups, including 20 rats of each, group I was received actinomyces isolates beside cariogenic diet. However, group II was received only cariogenic diet to the end of experiment. Both groups were orally infected with Streptococcus mutans for three consecutive days.
