Abstract Pasteurella multocida and Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHD) cause severe losses among rabbit populations. The efficacy of recently developed bivalent vaccine against pasteurellosis and RHD was investigated. In this study, group of rabbits was vaccinated with inactivated bivalent vaccine against pasteurellosis and RHD adjuvanted with montanide ISA70. The second group was vaccinated with inactivated Pasteurella multocida adjuvanted with montanide ISA70. The third group of rabbits was vaccinated with commercially produced oil inactivated rabbit Pasteurella multocida vaccine adjuvanted with mineral oil .group 4 of rabbits was vaccinated with RHDV vaccine adjuvanted with montanide ISA70. Group5 was vaccinated with commercial RHDV vaccine adjuvanted with mineral oil. The last two groups of rabbits were left as unvaccinated control group. The immune response was evaluated by using hemagglutination inhibition test (HT), enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and challenge test. The bivalent vaccine against pasteurellosis and RHD combined speed and longevity of the immune response. Immune protection against pasteurellosis and RHDV can thus be achieved with only one manipulation. |
