Abstract This study aimed at investigating the effect of using Task Based Language Teaching Strategies in Improving Speaking Skills for Preparatory School Students. To achieve this aim, three instruments were used: (1) Speaking skills questionnaire; and (2) a pre-post speaking skills test; (3) A rubric to score the pupils’ speaking skills after the pre-posttest. The study adopted the quasi-experimental design. The participants of the study consisted of thirty five students at om- Elmomneen preparatory school for Girls, Elmanzala , Al-Dakahlia. The participants were assigned into two groups; experimental and control. The results indicated that there were significant differences between the mean score of the post administration of the two groups in favor of the experimental group. In addition, there were significant differences between the mean score of the pre and post administrations of the experimental group in favor of the post one. The present study provided that the importance of using Task- Based language teaching strategies in improving speaking skills for second year preparatory school students. The study recommended that EFL teachers should make use of TBLT and other interesting techniques inside the classroom and Using online TBLT strategies based programs to develop various language skills. |
