Abstract SUMMARy Diabetes is a metabolic disease clinically expressed by chronic hyperglycemia and blood lipid and protein disorder that has been extensively reported as linked to several complications that cause morbidity and mortality. Thyroid dysfunction is common in diabetic patients and can produce significant metabolic disturbances. Diabetes mellitus and thyroid dysfunction are two major highly-spread health problems worldwide. Both of them affect each other, and the recognition of the relationship between diabetes mellitus and thyroid dysfunction is of importance to guide clinicians in good management of both of them. For the purpose of this study 100 patients were included in addition to 100 healthy individuals as a control group and they were classified as follows: group 1: 100 patients with type2 DM. group 2: 100 healthy individuals. Patients and controls were subjected to the following Full history taking. Complete physical examination. Laboratory tests: Fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin level.
