Abstract

The current study investigated the effect of Interactive Whiteboard on developing EFL preparatory stage pupils’ speaking skills. The participants of the study comprised 60 pupils. They were drawn randomly from first year pupils enrolled in the preparatory stage, at Zawyat Al-Na’ora Preparatory School for boys and girls in El-Shohdaa Educational Directorate during the first semester of the academic year 2017\2018. The participants were divided into two groups; experimental (30) and control (30). The study adopted the quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design. The instruments included an EFL speaking skills checklist and speaking skills test. The experimental group received speaking skills through Interactive Whiteboard, while the control one received regular instruction. The findings showed the positive effect of using Interactive Whiteboard on developing EFL prep stage pupils’ speaking skills. Hence, the results seemed to provide adequate evidence to support the hypotheses. The change that occurred in the speaking skills performance of the experimental group as shown in the post-test administration was higher than that of the pre-test administration. Thus, the study revealed that the use of Interactive Whiteboard positively affected EFL preparatory stage pupils’ speaking skills.
