Abstract

The central aortic blood pressure (CBP) is considered a better prognostic marker and is more strongly related to morbidity and mortality of the major cardiovascular diseases than conventional brachial blood pressure. Invasive measurement of central blood pressure can be performed directly by using a pressure sensor or catheter inserted into the aorta .This study was done at Cardiovascular Medicine Department, Mansoura Specialized Medicine Hospital, Mansoura University including 118 patients who were referred for performance of cardiac catheterization. This study aims to find a reliable equation that correlates the invasively derived central aortic pressure by cardiac catheterization with the noninvasive Doppler flow data derived by Doppler echocardiography. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between invasive central aortic blood pressure and the following echocardiographic parameters (LVM, Aortic deceleration time and VTI). Central aortic pressure can be measured with the following equations: IASP=95+0.2(A. deceleration time) IADP=60+0.14(A.Dec.t.) & IAMP=71+0.17(A.Dec.t.)
