Abstract Back ground: Nurses’ innovative work behaviors is essential for improving quality of services in healthcare system which affect on the patient satisfaction about the nursing care provided to them. The study aimed to assess nurses’ innovative work behaviors and it’s relation to patient satisfaction at Benha University Hospital. Design: A descriptive correlational design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at inpatients units medical and surgical departments at Benha University Hospital. Subjects: Consisted of 238 nurses and 225 patients. Two tools were used for data collection: Nurses’ Innovative Work Behaviors Questionnaire and Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire. Results: Nearly half of nurses (49.2%) had a high level of innovative work behaviors, while more than one third of them (34.0%) had a moderate level of innovative work behaviors. More than sixty of patients (62.2%) were had a high level of satisfaction about nursing care, while more than one third of them (32.9%) had a moderate level of satisfaction about nursing care. Conclusion: There was a statistical significant correlation between nurses’ innovative work behaviors score and total patient satisfaction level about nursing care. The study recommended that In-service training and education programs are needed for nurses periodically to improve and facilitate innovation work behaviors and provide better care and the hospital management should provide the patients with needed medication for every department because it affects on the nursing care and patient satisfaction. |
