Abstract

Since the millennium we have witnessed significant strides in the science and treatment of female sexual dysfunction. Several studies have associated overactive bladder with female sexual dysfunction; however, there are no reports using a quantitative approach to measure OAB severity and to relate OAB to the risk of FSD. (Kingsberg, et al, 2017).
Aim of the Study
This study aimed to assess the effect of overactive bladder syndrome on female sexual function.
Research question:
Is the overactive bladder syndrome affecting the women’s sexual function?
Study design:
A descriptive design was utilized to carry out this study.
Setting:
The study was carried out at the Urology Outpatient clinic and Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic at Benha University Hospital.
A. Subjects:
Sample Type: A purposive sample was used in this study.
Sample Size: A total of 70 women were recruited into the study.

Tools for data collection:
Three tools were used for collecting data:
First Tool: An interviewing questionnaire Sheet : it was designed by the researcher after reviewing the related literature. It includes two parts:
Part(1): Socio-demographic data of the studied women such as (age, level of education, residence, occupation and family type).
Part(2): Obstertric history such as ( gravidity, parity, number of abortions, mode of delivery and mode of delivery).
Second Tool: Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) Questionnaire: it was adopted from Rosen (2000) designed as Multidimensional self- report questionnaire measure with subscales to assess the major components of sexual function in women during the four week prior to the interview day. It consisted of 19 items self-reported measure that assesses six domains including sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and sexual pain.
Third Tool: Overactive Bladder Symptoms (O.A.B) Assessment Tool: it was developed by Homma (2006): based on a validated self-assessment questionnaire consisting of 4 questions (daytime frequency, nighttime frequency, urgency, and urge incontinence) assessing OAB symptoms.
