Abstract
The present work was carried out to study the side effects of Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin on some biochemical parameters and Histopathological changes of liver and kidney in rats. Forty- Five Male Albino Rats of The Same Age (16 to 17 weeks) Weighing 200–260 Gm, Were Obtained from The Animal House Of Zagazig University, Zagazig, Egypt. Urine sample collection
It was collected by a simple way through collection funnel from each cage separately ,the test was conducted by use of urine strips with color indicator for every content in the urine
Blood collection
Kidney and liver tissues were collected from each rat at a day after last treatment of drug administration
Histopathological studies:
Specimens from liver and kidney were taken post treatment and fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for studying the Histopathological changes.
The results were summarized as following:
Serum Total Protein, Albumin and Globulin showed significant decrease, while Serum ALT, AST and ALP showed a significant increase, Serum Total bilirubin ,Direct bilirubin and Indirect: showed a significant increase and Serum Creatinine, BUN and Urea Results revealed a significant increase .
The Histopathological investigation:
The majority of liver tissues showed acute cell swelling, a few lymphocytes seen in a few portal areas, Mild reversible changes mainly acute cell swelling, Bile duct hyperplasia and peri-ductular fibrosis. The hepatic cells showed acute cell swelling and proliferative bile ductless and portal fibrosis .
While in kidney tissues there were Cloudy swelling of some renal tubules (casts within the lumina of some collecting tubules, Mild revisable nephrotic changes. The renal parenchyma exhibited shrunken glomerular tuft, dilated glomerular space necrotic changes together with presence of albuminous, also the renal parenchyma exhibited necrotic changes in tubular epithelium and necrosed glomerular tuft and dilated glomerular space.
