Abstract

The present study was designed to compare the accuracy of guided implant placement by double scan technique versus triple scan technique.
This study was conducted on twelve patients recruited from the Outpatient Clinic of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine Cairo University.
For each patient implants were placed in mandible arch using computer aided surgical guides. patients were divided into two groups:
First group: implants placement by triple scan protocol.
Second group: implants placement by double scan protocol.
CBCT scanning with virtual implant planning were used to develop a computer based surgical guide which was used to place the implant according to the suggested protocols.
Patients were scanned by C.B.C.T after two weeks from surgery to compare the accuracy of planned position and actual position of implants placement by double scan protocol versus triple scan protocol.
Linear and angular deviations were measured between planned and actual position in both groups double scan and triple scan protocol.
After results were tabulated and statistically analyzed, there was no statistically difference in linear and angular deviation between two groups of scanning protocols; double scanning and triple scanning protocol.
