Abstract

Many of the fresh graduated civil engineers have a leakage of field experience; while they have a good amount of engineering science and design knowledge. So, this report represents a guide map to make a link between both the engineering design phase and the construction phase in site to make the orientation needed for the port engineers enabling them to manage site construction based on their adequate knowledge in design. This report will go slightly from the engineering phase to the construction phase and the site then step by step, the construction take place while the engineering office keep his role for any technical issues , surveying, monitoring and issuing the as built drawings at closing phase of project. The report will describe all stages of construction in details for some of marine structures and will show the difference between the methods of construction of the relevant ones and focusing on implementation stage for breakwaters, gravity wall type and the open structure which consider the main element in marine structures. The method of construction is one of the important factors in feasibility studies, which, enable the decision maker to proceed beside the strategic and economic studies to reach the project implementation phase in the light of the special nature of marine projects. Any construction study consist of main elements as follow: Project site and geographical nature and suitability for the project to be implemented. Field Geo-technical studies and metrological studies for the project location. Sources of raw materials which will be used in implementation. Design for the project elements (breakwaters, jetties, dredging works, repair facilities and beaches) and the method statement for project. Equipments, subcontractors and labors. Those are the main ones beside the experience of the engineers which enrich the study by reliability and approach to the project excellence
