Abstract
Introduction : Right mini-thoracotomy is an alternative to median sternotomy at Mitral valve replacement The aim of work: compare and analyze the results of Right mini-thoracotomy approach as an alternative to full median sternotomy approach for M V Replacement according to the operative & early and midterm postoperative outcomes Research Plan: a prospective study comparing and analyzing two groups of patients :Right mini-thoracotomy group &full median sternotomy group who underwent M V Replacement according to the operative & early and midterm postoperative outcomes.
Results: Right mini-thoracotomy is an alternative to median sternotomy at Mitral valve replacement with excellent postoperative results and minimal complications. Conclusion: Right mini-thoracotomy with standard cannulation is a safe and rapid approach to MV surgery with less postoperative complications. It has less postoperative bleeding, less blood transfusion, less pain with less ventilation time. It has shorter hospital stay time with rapid rehabilitation and rapid return to normal life. Its cosmetic results are satisfactory especially for young females.
