Abstract Aim:The aim was to evaluate the dental and skeletal effects using modified Dynamax appliance for treatment of early class II division 1 cases.Material and methods:eighteen subjects (10girls and 8boys) included in the present prospective study. All subjects had class II division 1 malocclusion due to maxillary prognathism and mandibular retrognathism with the chronological age of 9.8± 0.7. pre-treatment (T0) and post-treatment (T1) changes of skeletal and dental variables were assessed by using lateral cephalometric x-ray films. Results: The Modified Dynamax Appliance achieved a significant change in the correction of class II malocclusion by, maxillary retraction (SNA; 1.92º), mandibular advancement (SNB;2.52º), decreased overjet (6.46 mm) and a non-significant change in the mandibular plane angle. Conclusion:The early treatment of class II division 1 malocclusion due to maxillary prognathism and mandibular retrognathism using Modified Dynamax Appliance has shown great improvement. |
