This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of health education program titled ” sugar is the enemy of your eyes& Promotion and protection of eyes is Your Responsibility” the programe included various topics on the integrated concept of positive health and risk of diseases causing weakness of sight and how to prevent blindness .
Uses multimedia technology to help diabetes patients to understand the risk factors and risk behaviors to enable them to control the serious complications to eye diseases like (Diabetic Retinopathy - Glaucoma – cataract ) resulting from diabetes, which can cause vision loss even blindness.and increase the awareness of community members to avoid these diseases, and the possibility of changing the attitudes and behavior of the study sample, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and assess the impact of health education on the promotion of the health of the community.
The researcher also tried to provide an integrated vision to promote community health and analysis that through the Medical Sociology to help deeper understanding of social determinants on health, impact of sociodemographic factors and disclosure of the social and cultural dimensions that lie behind the chronic diseases as diabetes cause of serious complications on sight to understand the social aspect beside the medical aspect for complete the picture for the effectiveness prevention to members of the community from this disease . The field study on a deliberate sample purposive sample of diabetic patients who frequented the Beni Suef Hospital who meet the conditions of sample selection according to a mechanism aimed at study, the sample size (30) patients were selected from among 100 patients.
In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher adopted for studing the relationship between two variables( Health education as independent variable & Health promotion as dependent variable) the experimental approach (Pre test & post test- Experiment Design) to test the validity of assumptions.The necessary evidence was collected through the use of tools and methodology: the questionnaire form, the Scale which designed by researcher included five axes to measure the cognitive, emotional and behavioral side and identify trends in the sample and the social determinants of health .This tools in addition to the application form the activity entitled ”healthy lifestyle” was distributed to the members of the sample to determine their behavior in the intervening period between the presentation of the program to patients and the Pre test.
The data were analyzed statistically through the program: Social Sciences statistical packages known as SPSS concluded the following results: health education program had a positive impact in the areas of culture, health behavior, consciousness and information diabetics in post measurements. The study emphasizes the role of the intermediary variables in promoting the health of the community such as education, income and provide a suitable environment for sports also shows that health education campaigns and improve cognitive skills alone may not achieve the desired objectives in changing behavior because there is no intermediate factors play a complementary role in health education to be more effective, such as the cultural background and social components of the health care system.
