Abstract

Renewable energy plays a great role in the world’s future energy as permanent sources. The aim of this thesis is to study power quality measures at the point of common coupling for photovoltaic system connected to grid. The power quality study presented by the verification of IEEE standards 929-2000 and 1547-2003 concerning grid connectedphotovoltaicsystem. The inverter control applied with PI and Fuzzy logic controllers to have a balanced three phase current and synchronization conditions with the selected grid. The grid is a part of North Sinai distribution network with voltage 22KV and frequency 50 HZ. The data of the PV system extracted from real standalone PV system with power range of 10KWp.The system simulatedusing Matlab/Simulinkbased on 5MWp photovoltaic system.Results show a good compatibility with IEEE standards for subsystem proposed system at the operation of normal utility conditions.Cost benefit analysis for both solar tracking systems and PV system expansion is performed. Results show the use of solar tracking systems will be more expensive to be used in comparison to PV system expansion.
