Abstract

This study was conducted in El- Mataana Experimental; Research Station Orchards, Esna district, Luxor governorate during the two consecutive seasons of 2015 and 2016. The palms were planted at 6x 7 meters apart. The texture of the soil is silty clay. The selected palms (24 palms) were 20- years Old at the start of experiment. The number of female spathes per palm was adjusted to 10 spathes. All the selected Barhy date palms received the common horticultural practices that are already applied in the orchard except those dealing with organic, inorganic and biofertilization of N.
According to the obtained data, it is advised to fertilize Barhy date palms grown under Upper Egypt conditions with N (1000 g N / palm / year) through 50% ammonium nitrate (2985.0 g ammonium nitrate / palm / year). plus 50% chicken poultry manure (20 kg/ palm/ year) and the biofertilizer Spirulina platensis algae at 10 ml/ palm / year which was sufficient to maintain Superior yield. Thus, it can be replace 50% of the mineral N fertilizer in order to improve production fitted for safe local and foreign consumption. However, for improving fruit quality, it is suggested to use N as 25% inorganic N + 75% chicken poultry manure + Spirulina platensis algae at 20 ml/ palm.
