Abstract . AIM OF STUDY The present study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of onion, orange and prickly pear peel extracts mixed with beef meatballs in ameliorating hyperglycemia by using aloxane-induced diabetic rat model. Conclusion In conclusion, the present study has demonstrated the potency of OPE, ROSE, PPPE and their mixture to ameliorate hyperglycemia in diabetic rats. Furthermore, OPE, ROSE, PPPE and their mixture lowered MDA and increased GSH content in liver i.e. suppressed oxidative and inflammatory stress in liver. These findings provide a basis for the use of OPE, ROSE, PPPE and their mixture also have important implications for the prevention and early treatment of T2DM. RECOMMENDATIONS In the end of the present work we can submit the following recommendations: 1- The therapeutic and nutritional effects of (Orange peel, OP; red onion skin, ROS and prickly pear peel , PPP) probably attributed to its highly content of bioactive compounds, phytochemicals, including mainly phenolic compounds. 2- The data of the present work with that carried out by the others could be represent the mile stone towards the extension of using plant by-products extracts such OP, ROS and PPP, as natural antioxidants in many different medical applications such improve the serum glucose, liver and kidney functions as well as prevent the lipid oxidation on serum. 3- Paying attention in the future to carry out more and more research in the area of phytochemical and extended their applications in human diets, industrial and medical applications instead of the chemical used which have induced healthy hazards and side effects for the human being. 4- Introducing of many advertising programs through radio, television, news papers etc to know everybody in the community by the sources, benefits, pharmacological effects of phytochemicals in particular ability of a high bioactive compounds diet to attenuate diabetic conditions. |
