Abstract This work was planned to assess the results of treatment of femroactabular impingement arthroscopically. The patients were treated by labral debridement or labral repair with cam lesion osteoplasty as indicated. The material of this study included 40 cases of femroacetabular impingement. The age of the patients ranged between 19.0-56.0 years with a mean of 38.63±11.12 years and median of 40.5 years. There were 20 male patients (50%) and 20 female patients (50%) with a ratio of 1:1. All cases of the material were examined clinically and radiologically. In this study left and right sides were equally affected in the studied population. In this study, the duration of symptoms before surgery ranged from 9.0-48.0 months with a mean of 19.08±8.20 months with a median 18.0 months. The duration of follow up ranged between 6-24 months with the mean of 12.45 ± 4.7 months. In this study, the international hip outcome tool-12, modified Harris hip score, range of hip flexion and range of internal rotation of the hip at 900 of flexion showed statistically significant improvement following hip arthroscopy. The complications encountered in this study were; Lateral cutaneous nerve injury in 6 patients (15%). Progression of osteoarthritis in 3 patients (7.5%) managed by total hip arthroplasty |
