Abstract

Summary Pelvic floor disorders and FSD are prevalent and challenging problems These disorders include prolapse of the uterus, cervix, vagina, bladder, and rectum and incontinence. These diseases likely affect women’s sexual wellbeing through physical and emotional acts. Women with pelvic floor disorders often have co existing urologic and sexual complaints. Patients who present with these urologic problems should be questioned about their sexual function.The sexual process is a complex subject as it contains topics and behaviors such as wide range, sexual behavior, the functional environment, psychological and social, and the political, spiritual and religious aspects of sex.Pelvic organ prolapse is an increasing problem not because increase in the number of patients but due to increase in the awareness of females for this problem and its impact on their sexual activity.
This study included a bout (50) patients and was divided into three groups according to the type of operation .The included patients were classified into three groups :group (I): include 20 patients , mean age of this group was 32.5 years and a mean parity was 4 and The BMI was 23.7 (kg/m2( and had classical repair and Kelly’s suture as step to treat the patients who had stress incontinence . the main complain of this group was Heaviness (50%), Stress incontinence (60%), Back pain (28.6%) group (II): include 20 patients, a mean age of this group was 32 years and a mean parity was 3.8 and The BMI is 24.1 kg/m2 and had posterior colporrhaphy .the main complain of this group was Heaviness (33.3%), Back pain (71.4%) and dyspareunia ( ). group (III): include 10 patients, mean age of of this group was 44.2 years and a mean parity was 5.4 and The BMI is 27.4 kg/m2 and had Vaginal hysterectomy . the main complain of this group was Mass Protrusion (100%), Heaviness (16%), Back pain (2.6%) Patients included only if they were premenopausal (between 20-45 y), married, sexually active during the past 6 months, and able to read and give consent. And excluded patient who had history of chronic disease, previous vaginal operation .
We conduct a study to evaluate the outcome of sexual function after pelvic organ prolapsed surgeries. Preoperative evaluation was done for each patient including the following Routine lab investigation sexual function evaluation by using a validated sexual questionnaire (PISQ-12) pelvic organ prolapse /urinary incontinence sexual questionnaire As regard, sexually function.There was increase in the score of the (PISQ-12) in this study ,this indicated improvement in sexual function of patients after operation .group (I): (PISQ-12) was 23.4 and after surgery the (PISQ-12) became 37.1 .group (II): (PISQ-12) was 29.8 and after surgery the (PISQ-12) became 34.1 .
group (IV): (PISQ-12) was 25.7 and after surgery the (PISQ-12) became 35.4.This operations improved the sexual function in the females included in the study and this goes with other studies performed to evaluate the effect of pelvic organ prolapse on the sexual function and the outcome of different types of surgery to correct this problem.
