Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females. Early detection can reduce mortality by 34 %. Cure rate in early stages is 98 %. Mammogram is the most effective screening tool in females over 40, while high resolution us and MRI is the most sensitive in young females. Contrast enhanced digital mammography increases the sensitivity of the mammographic image. Proper management of the precancerous lesion is very important to reduce the percentage of locally advanced malignancy. Non palpable mammgraphically detected lesions can be localized either by wire localization or by Radioactive occult localization techniques. Sentinel lymph node biopsy should be the standard technique for the clinically negative axilla to reduce the incidence of lymphedema.
