Abstract The aim of this study was to determine prostate and bladder sonographic parameters that can predict the alpha blocker monotherapy outcome of patients with LUTS/BPH.The study was conducted 50 Symptomatic LUTS/BPH patients seeking treatment at Urology department, Tanta University Hospitals through the period from June 2016 up to April 2017. All patients were subjected to the following: detailed medical history including IPSS score, physical examination including digital rectal examination(DRE), laboratory evaluation (Urine analysis, Urine culture, serum creatinine,Serum prostatic specific antigen (PSA), prothrombin time and activity) and radiological evaluation (Trans-abdominal ultrasound and Trans-rectal ultrasound).The main outcome was the response to treatment on the basis of International Prostatic Symptom Score (I-PSS), quality of life (QoL) score and maximum urine flow rate (Qmax) after taking daily oral dose of tamsulosin 0.4 mg for 3 months. The influences of baseline parameters on treatment response were statistically analyzed. |
