Abstract Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale (ORT) is a relatively recently discovered bacterium responsible for a respiratory disease in poultry. The aim of this work is isolation of ORT from naturally infected broilers showed respiratory symptoms and identification via biochemical & molecular methods. The samples were from broilers with age (21-30) days, from (2015 to 2017). Most of the examined broiler flocks had history of mortality ranging from 1-7.9% during last 3 days before sampling. Collected swabs from trachea, airsacs. The results of this present study are: - Isolation of ORT from suspected naturally infected broiler from EL-Sharkia governorate showed respiratory signs as depressed, poor performance, off food with ruffled feather, lameness, reluctant to move, lacrimation, huddle together, conjunctivitis, coughing, gasping, ocular nasal discharge, greenish white diarrhea, wet eye, sneezing, rales and sometimes swelling of infra-orbital sinus. Postmortem of dead broilers and scarified birds showed tracheitis, pericarditis, uni or bi-lateral pneumonia and congested lung, airsacculitis with accumulation of yellowish yoghurt- like creamy frothy exudate in the. |
