Abstract

Recently, many oil and gas companies had been discovered several fields in the onshore and offshore areas of Nile Delta region. Therefore, geophysical and geological studies, especially seismic data, petrophysical evaluation, and modeling are important for defining new fields and delineating reservoir boundaries, as well as petrophysical characteristics. West Al Khilala Field lies at about 31.2 Km away from the northwestern part of El Mansoura Concession within the central onshore portion of the Nile Delta. It covers an area of about 24 Km² and locates between Lat 31º 17’ 00’’ - 31º 21’ 00’’ N, and Long 31º 13’ 52’’ - 31º 17’ 00’’ E. Also, this field is placed at about 10 km toward the southwest portion of the Abu Madi gas field, The main reservoir in West Al Khilala Field is comprising gas and water. West Al Khilala-1 pentrated gas down to (GDT) at 10015 ft.TVDSS with gas gradient of 0.074 psi/ft and water gradient of 0.44 psi/ft, while well-2 penetrated gas water contact at 10022 ft.TVDSS with gas gradient of 0.078 psi/ft and water gradient of 0.4 psi/ft.
RECOMMENDATIONS and furure work
Results of the present study proved that, the petrophysical characteristics of Abu Madi sandstone section reflect the ability to store and produce hydrocarbons. Therefore, we recommend to perforate more wells around the central part of the field due to the maximum Netpay thickness of successively gas reserves within this area and putting these under production test wells to gain more amounts of hydrocarbons. Drilling of sidetrack wells (between the structure of well-1and 2) should be followed in the strategy plan of the powered company upon the concession.
