Abstract PPCI effectively decreased mortality and morbidity in elderly with AMI settings and improved short-term and long-term prognosis compared to the medical treatment in elderly with AMI settings. However, the beneficial effect of PCI maybe limited in the elderly population, because PPCI in the elderly carries an increased procedural risk. However, our result demonstrated a beneficial effect of PPCI in the elderly patients with MI. Although PCI carries an increased procedural risk in elderly MI patients, the benefits after PCI can outweigh the procedural hazards in most patients with AMI, owing to improvements in PCI technology Future studies are needed to be held to assess the optimal STEMI management strategy for the elderly patients and limit the risks associated with PPCI in elderly patients. |
