Abstract

Poly methyl methacrylate is the best resin used for fabrication of dentures as it is more aesthetic, easy to manipulate and required less capital expenditure for processing .However, later research re-vealed that, the processing deformation that is apparent when the cured dentures are removed from the cast is universally recognized as major disadvantage of this material. Investigator do their best, to improve the physical properties of denture base materials and their processing techniques and to decrease candida colonization(1).
Forty five uniform waxed up maxillary denture bases was constructed then were divided into three equal groups ;group (I) processed in heat cure acrylic resin with long cycle water bath technique, group (II) processed in poly methyl methacrylate acryl-ic resin with microwave energy and group (III) processed in free monomer thermoblastic material with injection moling system.
The changes in palatal adaptation were measured after pro-cessing of denture bases for the three groups using electronic digital caliper and the candida colonization for the three groups was ex-amined by light microscope with magnifying force(40Xs) .
from the result:
-The highest value of palatal denture base adaptation was in denture bases processed by injection molding system .
-The least value of palatal denture base adaptation was in den-ture bases processed by microwave energy.
-The highest value of candida colonization was in denture bases processed by microwave energy.
- The least value of candida colonization was in denture bases processed by injection molding system.
Injection molding technique is preferred for processing of denture bases in attempted to minimize candida colonization and enhancing the accuracy of denture base adaptation.
