Abstract

The quality of life (QOL) is an important consideration in medical care, (QOL)
the general well-being of individuals and societies. The clients with angina
pectoris have a poor quality of life because the recurrent attack of angina pain
severity restricts a person ability to live and enjoy a normal life. The aim of the
Study Identify the factors affecting the quality of life for elderly clients suffering
from angina pectoris through-Assessing the physical, psychological and social
factors & Assessing the health needs and problems Design: -this study was a
descriptive research design. Setting: This study will be conducted at the Cardiac
Outpatient Clinic at Ain Shams University Hospital and El- Hussein hospital
which is affiliated to AL-Azhar University. Sample: This study will be including
all clients attending to the previous setting over six months (N= 537) the sample
was taken randomly Tools: Four tools were designed the First tool: Interviewing
questionnaire was used to assess. Socio-demographic data, Clients past & present
medical history& Clients knowledge about angina pectoris disease. Second tool:
Was used the sheet to assessment physical condition. Third tool: Assessment
client’s health needs &problems. Fourth tool: Questionnaire of health survey is
concerned with factors affecting the quality of life for elderly clients suffering
from angina pectoris. Result: The current study shows that 36.7% from the
elderly clients suffering angina pectoris their age are more than 60year while
24.7% more than 50 years and 38.7% are ranged between 55-60 years. 57% were
male while 43.0% were female 81%. Also, the study Reflects that there were high
statistically significant differences among total knowledge of the elderly client
and their total quality of life at p<0.001. Conclusion: There was a significance
relation between QOL among elderly client & their physical examination (blood
pressure, blood sugar, and BMI) while there was a high statistically significant
relation between elderly health need and problems. Also 6.0% only from the
client with a psychological problem (depression) have good QOL.
Recommendation; This study recommended that clients with angina be educated
about the importance of lifestyle modifications, such as smoking cessation, BP
control, and weight, lipid, and diabetes management in improving their QOL.
