Abstract
Autism is a behavioral syndrome caused by a developmental disorder that is biologically determined, with onset of first three years of life. The area rerated to social interaction, the capacity to communicate ideas and feelings and the ability to establish relationships with others are mainly affected; therefore, it appears as permanent disability that accompanies the subject through his lifetime, although the characteristics of the social deficit assume variable expressivity in time (Robinson, 2015). Caring for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) is challenging and affects family life interventions for children with ASDs often require parents’ involvement and also aim to increase parents’ caregiving skills, self-efficacy, knowledge of the disorder, and aim to reduce family stress (Hoefmen et al., 2014).The aim of the present study was to assess parents’awareness regarding care of their children suffering from autism in Benha city through:-
1- Assessing parents’ knowledge about autism .
2- Assessing parents’ practices regarding their children with autism.
3- Assessing parents’ attitudes regarding their children with autism.
4- Develop instruction guideline for autistic child parents.
The study was conducted at Pediatric Clinics of Benha University Hospital and Benha psychiatric Hospital in Benha City. The sample of the study was convenient sample and it was included 100 autistic child and their parents.
Tools of data collection:

First part: It was concerned with
A-socio-demographic characteristics of Autistic child’s parent involved in the study. It include age, gender, level of education, occupation, marital status, place of residence, number of children, monthly income, relative relation between the parents, and genetic history of autism in the family.
B- Child characteristics involved in the study. It included gender, age, birth order, degree of disease, the duration of the disease, child’s other health problems, current medication for the child.
Second part: It was concerned with autistic child’s parent knowledge about autism meaning of autism, predisposing factors, relation of autism with mental disability, signs and symptoms, language problems, type of therapy, types of autism, the early discover of symptoms and signs of autism affects the degree of recovery of the child, the severity of the child’s autism affecting the degree of parental care, the problems faced children with autism, the private talents that characterized the autistic child and the source of parents’ information.
