Abstract
The present work was carried out during 2015 and 2016 seasons on Superior grapevine cv. to study the effect of dormex at 2 or 4 %, garlic and onion oils at 5 % for each as well as their combinations on the vegtatative growth and the yield of Superior grapevines under Minia governorate conditions. Vines were pruned at the last week of December. Leaving 96 buds per vine. The experiment design (C.R.B.D).dormex was used at 2% or 4%,garlic oil at 5% or onion oil at 5% ,as well as, their combinations .spraying the above chemical solutions was carried out at the first week of January .The following data were registered annually ,the beginning and ending of bud opening –the time elapsed for bud opening –the percentage of bud opening and dormant buds ,main shoot length –number of leaves per shoot –leaf area-cane chickens –wood ripening coefficient .Measurement of plant pigments –number of cluster per vine –weight of clusters –yield per vine –length and width of cluster .Weight of 100 berries- berry dimensions –percentage of shot berries –T.S.S-total acidity –reducing sugars –T.S.S/acid ratio. The obtained results in the first and Second seasons could be summarized as follows:-
- Results in the two experimental seasons took almost the same trend.
- Dormex at 2 or 4 %, garlic and onion oils at 5 % for each as well as their combinations enhanced bud burst of Superior grapevines by about (20) days. Dormex and its combinations were the most effective treatments in this respect followed by garlic and onion oils.
- Treatments of dormex represented the highest percentage of bud opening which in turn results in decreasing the percentage of dormant buds. Besides, the percentage of fruiting buds were increased in comparison with the other treatments.
- Dormex at 2 or 4 %, garlic oil at 5 % and onion oil at 5 % as well as their combinations were of positive effect in increasing the vegetative growth characteristics (main shoot length – number of leaves per shoot – cane thickness – wood ripening coefficient – the leaf content from chlorophyll a and b and total chlorophylls and total carotenoids.
- Dormex was most superior either used separately or in combinations in increasing number of clusters per vine – cluster weight and the yield per vine. Also, these treatments were more effective in improving the physical berry qualities.
- All treatments increased total soluble solids – total soluble solids acid ratio and reducing sugars. In the same time reducing the acidity in the juice. The effect of garlic in the present study could be attributed to its content from namely diallyL mono, di, tri and detro-sulfides.
On the light of the previous results, it can be stated that under the experimental condition and the resembling regions spraying Superior grapevines with dormex at 4 % either separately or in combinations with garlic or onion is recommended to obtain higher yield with good quality.
