Abstract

This study took place in the research lath-house at Horticulture Department, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt during 2014to 2016. The light intensity ranging from 3000 to 3500 lux. The aim of the study is to compare different nutrient solution formulas and study the effects of some naturally biostimulants (extract of Willow Bark or Juvenile Branches) and study the effects of some elicitors (IBA) on vegetative growth and active constituents of Coleus blumeiand Hedera helix plants grown hydroponically in sand culture
The results showed that the nutrient solution C (designed and formulatedin the Suez Canal University) is, generally, the more beneficial, so it produced the tallest plants and heaviest fresh and dry weights of both of the parts above and underground in the two experiments. On the other hand, the addition of aqueous extract of juvenile branchesof willow led to a significant increase in plant height and fresh and dry weights of either above or underground parts for the three nutritional solutions. Data indicate that the diameter of the main stem and the fresh and dry weights of the necked branches were higher in treatments irrigated with the solution C in both experiments. On Coleus and Hedera , the plants treated with the solution C plus 2 ppm of IBA with more 50% nitrate or 50% of phosphate showed superiority in plant size index.Because the goal of this study is to obtain the largest amount of the active ingredients present in dry leaves or roots, the results indicated that irrigation plants with solution C plus 2 ppm of IBA with more 50% nitrate gives highest concentration of alkaloids, flavonoidsand tannins
