Abstract Endometriosisis even ovarian and extra-ovarian are common chronic disease affecting young women, repeated cyclic bleeding and rupture of endometriomas can cause severe pelvic adhesions and infertility, so early diagnosis is important for the adequate treatment. Uterine lesions with hemorrhagic products show punctate signal voids due to hemosiderin deposition scattered within them. SWI is more sensitive for hemorrhagic foci than fsT1WI, and is useful in differentiating from each pathology. So susceptibility-weighted imaging is used as the problem solving tool for better tissue characterization which may help identify a wider array of pelvic lesions once it is coupled with conventional magnetic resonance (MR) sequences in the pelvis. It have shown improvement in accuracy in detecting the hemorrhagic products where ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) are insufficient. |
