Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate levels of HNP1-3 in saliva and serum in Egyptian patients with Behcet ̛s disease and to correlate them with oral ulcer activity, disease activity & severity. Materials and Methods : Sixty subjects were included in the study. Thirty subjects as healthy controls & thirty patients with BD as a study group. Disease activity, severity& oral ulcer activity were assessed. CBC, ESR, CRP were measured for all subjects. Serum & unstimulated saliva samples were taken .serum & salivary levels of HNP1-3 were measured using assay ELISA kits and data were statistically analyzed using spss. Results: the results of the present study showed a significant increase in serum & salivary HNP1-3 levels in patients than in controls. Also, a direct correlation between Disease activity, severity& oral ulcer activity & serum & salivary levels of HNP1-3 was noticed. Conclusion : healing progress faster in group III than other groups.
