Abstract

Radiation Force Balance (RFB) system at the National Institute of
Standards (NIS- Egypt) has been constructed and realized with the
objective to be used for the radiation power measurements and
calibration of ultrasonic transducers. The system is based on the change
in weight of an absorbed target as the transducer is turned on and off.
So, the main component is a Mettler Toledo electronic digital balance.
The RFBsystem was automated using Lab VIEW program. The Lab
VIEW program was designed for the processing of the readings from
the measuring instrument in automatic mode. The measurements results
were presented an expanded uncertainty at confidence level 95% (with a
coverage factor of k=2). The RFB system performance was validated
and realized by participating in the informal bilateral comparison
between KRISS, NMIJ and NIS for the same standard ultrasonic
reference transducer and good agreement was obtained.
