Abstract This study was applied on 200 clinically diseased Oreochromis niloticus and Tilapia zilli (100 fish each) collected from Lake Temsah in Ismailia governorate to investigate the presence of Enterococcus faecalis bacteria .the main clinicalsigns were poped eye, detached scales and hemorrhage of the external surface. postmortum findings of the diseased fishes were done, samples were taken from liver , kidney, spleen and brain for bacteriological examination which indicated the presence of Enterococcus faecalis. The percentage of infection in Nile tilapia with Ent. faecalis was 22.5% while The percentage of infection in Tilapia zilli with Ent. faecalis was 18.75% . Antibiogram test of bacterial isolates recovered from naturally infected Nile tilapia and Tilapia zilli revealed that Tetracycline(TE30) and Chloramphenicol(C30) were the drug of choice against Ent. faecalis. The results of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) showed appearance of specific bands of Enterococcus spp. in the kidneys of both tilapias and the spleen of Nile tilapia which were identified by tuf gene and gave aspecefic bands at 196 baispair(bp)and by16S rRNA sequences and gave a specific band at 190 basepair (bp). |
