Abstract
70 samples were collected from pure Arabian horses from 8 different governorate (El-Zahraa studs for Arabian horses –Cairo, Egypt , Giza, Fayyoum ,Kafr- el sheikh ,El-minia , Al-Dakahlia, Ismailia and Alexandria governorates)including nasal swabs from horses suffering from respiratory manifestation, nasal and vaginal from recently aborted mares and tissue samples (liver-lung-spleen-placenta) from cases of aborted fetuses and sill birth.
In a try for isolation ofEHV virus using SPF ECE at age 9-11 day where the SPF eggs were inoculated on the CAM and daily follow-up for a specific CPE for EHVs and confirmation of isolates byIFAT and nested multiplex PCR. The result showed 11 positive isolates for EHV-1 only and all samples were negative for EHV-4.
120 serum samples were collected also fromArabian horses in same governorates for investigation about the presence of specific antibody for EHV-1and EHV-4 in non-vaccinated horses which were positive by62.5% from total collected samples.
