Abstract We characterized a novel gene MjVRP from kuruma shrimp haemocytes that showed 34 % amino acid identity with PmVRP15. Flow cytometry and immunostaining analysis in healthy shrimp showed that MjVRP protein localized in semi-granular and granular cells. In addition, increasing the MjVRP transcript after WSSV challenge was caused by increasing the number of MjVRP+ haemocytes following flow cytometry and immunostaining results. Therefore, these results highlight the fact that MjVRP+ haemocytes may have a role in facilitating the WSSV replication in shrimp. RNAi silencing by dsRNA revealed the determination of MjVRP function in vivo. Decreasing ie-1 and VP28 expression upon WSSV infection in MiVRP knockdown shrimp haemocytes suggests that it may have a critical function in mechanism of the viral WSSV pathogenesis. |
