Abstract

This study was carried out on 40 patients with complicated Parkinson’s disease who gave the consent to share in the study. They were diagnosed according to the UK Parkinson’s disease brain bank criteria for idiopathic PD. The patients were divided into two groups: group I included 20 patients and group II included 20 patients. Both groups are concordant in each items including age, sex &duration of the disease. The stage of the disease was assessed according Hoehn and Yahr scale. Also both groups were concordant with no significant difference. group I patients are those subjected to 10 daily sessions of active rTMS at frequency of 5 HZ at primary motor areas of both sides using circular coil. group II were subjected to inactive stimulation without knowing and considered as control group. Clinical assessment to both groups using motor part of UPDRS showed no significant difference initially. At the end of the study there was highly significant difference favoring the clinical benefit of active rTMS in all motor items of UPDRS but to different degrees. Also there were highly significant benefits on improving complications in group I patients in comparison to initial state &also in comparison to group II.
