The aim of the present study was using new drugs most of them
from natural sources as plants to be the more active, more safer, less
price and less side effects as Nigella sativa (NS) seed extract in and
other two reference drugs omeprazole (OME) and ranitidine (RAN) in
protecting and treatment of gastric ulcer in adult rats. Protective
experiment studies the protective effects of N.S, OME and RAN on
gastric tissues for two weeks then ulcer induction with indomethacin.
All parameters were measured after 6hours from indomethacin oral
administration. It contain seventy two female Spargue dawaly rats were
divided into nine groups each from eight rats as follows: normal control
receiving distilled water, CMC control (0.5 % aqueous solution of
carboxy methyl cellulose), indomethacin group (30 mg/kg) for ulcer
induction, Nigella sativa control (150 mg/ kg), Omeprazole (30 mg/kg)
control, Ranitidine control (50 mg/kg), Nigella sativa +indomethacin,
omeprazole + Indomethacin and ranitidine + Indomethacin with the
same doses. The second experiment study the therapeutic effects of N.S
, OME and RAN on gastric tissues after one and two weeks. Rats were
injected with a single dose of Indomethacin (30mg/kg. bwt) for ulcer
induction. It contains sixesty four ulcerated rats were divided into four
groups for ulcer treatment with the same antiulcer drugs and doses.
Rats were scarified and all parameters were measured after one and two
week of treatment.
