Abstract Coeliac disease (CD) is an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine that occurs in genetically predisposed people of all ages upon exposure to gluten and show clinical and histological improvement after withdrawal of gluten from the diet. Clinically, it typically shows chronic diarrhea, abdominal distention, bloating, malabsorption with malodorous, greasy bulky offensive stools, failure to thrive and fatigue but these manifestations may be absent and other symptoms in other organ systems have been described, where it is considered atypical in presentation. |
